To inspire students to explore their passion, potential, and possibilities for their future...
John Gewinner was an amazing man and left us all too soon. I set up this foundation as a way to honor John’s memory and help students get support for making their dreams come true. John and I were together for almost 4 years, but planned to spend the rest of our lives together. We spent the last 14 months fighting his cancer. Sure, we were in it together and our love helped us keep going – but through it all – John never gave up. He demonstrated such courage. There were so many dreams we had – big and little. There were things John wanted to do but ran out of time. As we continue to grow this Memorial Foundation, I’m certain we’ll find ways to help. John would be so proud. He is missed and loved each and every day, but I know he is smiling as we continue to look for new ways to keep his spirit alive.
The John Gewinner Memorial Foundation was established in 2009 and is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. There are several focuses for the Foundation. One is to provide Academic Scholarships to 8th Grade Students at St. Gabriel’s Parish in St. Louis Hills. The Scholarships are awarded to two students based upon their essay submission. The winners receive a $1500 scholarship that is provided to the High School they will be attending. We will be rewarding this year’s winners on May 20, 2010 during the 8th grade award ceremony.
We’d love to hear your ideas about other ways this foundation can help. Thank you for your interest in this memorial foundation for John.

You can see how proud they are by the smiles on their faces. I was so blessed to be asked to participate and keynote the ceremony. Telling the story of John …Read More >

On May 4th, it will be three years that John has been gone. They say it gets easier with time and you move on with your life. I’m not sure who the “they” is, but know this much first-hand. Time is just time. It doesn’t get easier – it’s just life continues to happen …Read More >
